From design to delivery

The Evangelical Lutheran congregation in Joensuu wanted beautiful and unique baptism gifts that would delight both families and parishioners. This year, the congregation decided to order something special: 100 handmade baptism birds. This project was the first order that launched Puuva's business into real action. A joint creative process that brought together Puuva's professional skills and the customer's ideas and wishes.

Collaboration that starts with an idea

The project began with an email exchange where we discussed with a church representative what kind of baptism birds we would like to create. The goal was that the birds would be safe and would fit the name of the child being baptized. During the discussion, it was realized that one design would not be enough, but that two different options were needed, representing different styles.

The customer's wishes were taken into account in the design of both models, and several changes were made along the way to ensure that the end result would closely match the congregation's expectations.

First prototypes and approval

Once the design work was complete, it was decided to produce one of each model. This allowed the congregation to see and feel the products before making a larger batch. This step was particularly important, as it allowed the client to make last-minute changes and ensure that the final product was exactly as desired.

The prototypes were delivered to Joensuu, and the excitement was palpable as we waited for a response from the parish representative. The first impression was very positive – each model had its own charm and perfectly matched the original vision of the project. However, small refinements were made to make the products perfect, and in the end the models received customer approval.

Manufacturing and delivery

After approval, the real work began: making 100 water birds. This stage was time-consuming and required precision, as each bird had to be of high quality and finished. After laser cutting, the birds were carefully reviewed to ensure that every detail was correct. It was important to us that each bird was unique and finished.

Once all 100 water birds were made, they were packaged and delivered to the Joensuu parish. With the delivery, the project reached its conclusion, and the parish received these unique water birds.

The fruits of cooperation

This project was Puuva's first major project and an example of how close cooperation with the client can produce results that exceed expectations. There was good interaction between the Joensuu Evangelical Lutheran Church and Puuva, which made the final result possible. Baptisms bring with them meaning and emotion that the future baptized and their families can carry with them far into the future.
